Oh hey, grab a mug! We love tea!

Hey there, this week I’ve been thinking about the women who make us who we are.

That’s partly because of one story circling the web. French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus announced his Grandmother Liline as the first ambassador for his namesake brand. Is Jacquemus rated well for its environmental and human rights track records? No. Is Jacquemus’s grandmother adorable? Yes. He called her “the most special woman in my life”.

Along these lines, I have a confession for you, dear readers: Last week we published a few of the many testimonials you’ve shared with us.

We should disclose that one of those testimonials is from Annette… my mum. Yes, when we recently announced our goal to make this publication reader-funded, my mum became anxiety.eco’s first Founding Member.

I know I’m your mum but this one really was thought-provoking…

Annette, our first Founding Member

Now, she voice-messages me after each issue to say how much she’s enjoyed Founding Member exclusives such as this report on the toxic chemicals that keep showing in fast fashion and this one inspiring sign that collective action can win. Each time, her voice message starts with, “I know I’m your mum but this one really was thought-provoking…”.

If Annette was the only one supporting anxiety.eco, it’d be impossible to hit our goal of 500 Founding Members. But thankfully, she’s only the first.

This week we wanted to share what more readers from around the world are saying about anxiety.eco — and why you might want to join us! (None of these are from JD’s mom, who unsubscribed — no hard feelings!)

6 readers who aren’t Amy’s mom share why this mission matters

So much information and so reassuring to know I am not on my own in the way I worry about clothes. I worry about the people that make them, the way they are made, the pollution it causes, what I put against my children's skin, it's overwhelming.

Laura, Kent

There's this sense of joining a community of people who feel the same, in a world where I'm often left thinking: ‘Does no one care??

Camille, Switzerland

It's real; it's filling a massive gap in content that leads with heart and ethics. This keeps good people who care in fashion. So important for the world right now.

Nina, New Zealand

There is so much greenwashing that I struggle to understand how I can make a difference. My kids want to keep up with their peers and I need help explaining to them why the planet is more important than this week’s fashion statement. anxiety.eco is well informed, well researched and great reading.

Karla, Australia

The content, the words, the questionings resonate so much with how I feel towards an industry I chose to work in, but in which sometimes, even as a textile and CSR teacher, do have doubts about the purpose of.

Elsa, Paris

It’s the truth for once! And even more importantly, it makes me feel like I’m not crazy to care about stuff. Other people think it’s important to care about people and the planet. I’m not alone :)

Ariane, Montreal

When we read testimonials like these, we’re reminded how beautifully intergenerational this space we share is: there are young climate justice activists, fashion design students, burnt-out fashion journalists, industry leaders, and mums concerned about our kids’ future. Know that we do this for you, not the billionaires who run most of fashion’s media.

Will you join Annette, Laura, Camille, Nina, Karla, Elsa, Ariane and the many readers who are helping us spread the word… that the antidote really is collective?
